Former Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro became the first high-ranking official to surrender to federal jail in Miami on Tuesday, for his part in the plot to tamper with the 2020 election results. Mr. Navarro, 74, was given a four-month prison sentence in January for contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the House select committee that was looking into the incident that occurred on January 6, 2020.
He was involved in helping Mr. Trump stay in power after his 2020 election loss. During a hurriedly scheduled press conference just before his scheduled arrival to the Miami-Dade County Jail, a minimum security prison adjacent to the Miami-Dade Zoo, Mr. Navarro repeated his well-known criticisms of the Obama administration and the Justice Department.
Outside a pizzeria and a pawnshop in a business plaza’s parking lot, he accused the federal trial judge who heard his case, Joe Biden, and a slew of other politicians whose animosity toward Trump drove their actions. The fact that he will most certainly serve out his term while appealing his conviction, he said, was the “tragedy” of his situation.
Reporters were informed that he was terrified of just one thing. “It doesn’t matter what party you are; this will chill every American. I fear for my country because of it.” Mr. Navarro’s federal prison consultant, Sam Mangel, who assisted with his surrender preparations, has stated his intention to place Mr. Navarro in a minimum-security satellite camp’s unit for offenders 60 and up.

For a while before he joined the Trump administration, Mr. Navarro was a political nomad, running for government multiple times as a Democrat in California but each time losing.
